Step 7: Connecting Stitch to Redshift

To complete the setup, you need to enter the Amazon Redshift database information into Stitch. These settings can also be updated by navigating to the Destination Settings page in Stitch (click your profile icon > Destination Settings).

Locating Your Redshift Details

The majority of this information can be viewed on your Amazon Redshift Cluster Console page (Redshift Dashboard > Clusters, cluster name) by clicking the name of the cluster.

You’ll need:

  • The host (endpoint) - This is the endpoint Stitch will connect to - copy and paste this into the Host field in Stitch. Please don't include the port number when entering the endpoint into Stitch, as it will cause errors.

In the example below, the port is appended at the end of the endpoint string. That's what should be removed from the string before entering it into Stitch.

  • Database Name - This is the name of the database you want to connect to Stitch. This must be a pre-existing database - Stitch won't create one for you.

    It could be:
    • The name of the database you used to launch the cluster. If you launched a cluster using this tutorial, it's the name of the database from Step 2.
    • The name of another database within Redshift.
  • Username - This can be the master username (the user you created when you launched the cluster) or the name of the Stitch user from Step 6. In the screen capture below, the location of the master username is highlighted.
  • Password - This is the password associated with the user.
  • Port - This is the same port you entered when creating the cluster.

The screen capture below highlights where you can find the above information (except the password) in the Cluster Details page in Redshift:

Entering the Connection Details into Stitch

In Stitch, enter the information into the Destination Settings page. Click your profile icon in the top-right corner, then Destination Settings to open the page:

Stitch Data Warehouse Settings page.
Click for a closer look.

Click the Update Destination Settings button to save and test the connection.

If the connection is successful, a Success! message will display at the top of the screen. If you encounter any connection errors, check out the troubleshooting article (listed below in the Related section) for help.

What Do I Do Now?

Now that your data warehouse is set up and connected to Stitch, you can connect your data sources and get the data flowing.
